Ms. Charlene Schwarz » Home

My Name is Ms. Schwarz and I teach AVID and Leadership.  My philosophy of education combines progressivism, humanism and constructivism.  I believe that education develops the moral compass of students, fosters students to achieve at their fullest potential and allows students to shape their world view.  I am a teacher because I want my students to be critical consumers of information and engaged members of society, informed about everything that is happening in the world around them.

My purpose is to ensure that all students have the opportunity to create their own future, rather than a future predetermined by their circumstances.  My mission is to ensure all students are eligible, accepted, enrolled and persisting in college.  My vision is for my students to question everything and be service minded public servants who believe they can change the world.

In my classroom, students demonstrate resilience and individual determination.  My responsibility as a teacher is to learn alongside my students.  I develop relationships with my students by sharing my own experiences and creating an environment in which classmates become a family.  My teaching is relevant everyday - and I am filled with pride every June, when the names of each graduate is called to receive their high school diploma and leave PSCS to continue their educational journey!
